Great Green Macaw Introduction in Punta Uva
The Ara Project is a non-profit organization that breeds Scarlet and Great Green Macaws in captivity for release back into the wild. There are currently fewer than 2000 Scarlet and 500 Great Greens flying free in Costa Rica today.
You can help save these magnificent birds check out their website:

Right now at their new center in Punta Uva, the folks from the Ara Project have 10 Great Greens they are preparing to release. Their main diet is the mountain almond tree.
At ATEC we are more and more helping organize service projects. We are working to offer options for groups to work on reforestation and to donate a bit to the project in exchange don Alan will give an informative presentation on why reforestation and why the Great Green Macaw Reintroduction Project are so important.
