Green Tips-Recycling in the South Caribbean

RECYCLE! Here in Talamanca, it can’t be easier. ReciCaribe, the Recycling Association of the Caribbean, is an internationally recognized recycling endeavor. Have you ever seen our municipal dump? It’s horrifying, it is right next to the community of Olivia and when the river floods, all your waste goes into the river, and then ends up right in your back yard or into the sea. If you want to become involved, visit ATEC on Main Street in Puerto Viejo and ask for Alaine. Or call ATEC 2750-0398 or go visit ReciCaribe’s recycling and separation center in Patiño 2756-8181 and speak to the manager Danny Umaña 8888-7167.

Recycle-- Glass, plastics, aluminum--making products with recycled materials, instead of from scratch with raw materials, uses 30 to 55% less for paper products, 33% less for glass, and a whopping 90% less for aluminum.

RECYCLE and promote recycling where you work and in the schools.
