Talamanca to Be Featured on Radio Nacional and Canal 13
I got a fax yesterday from my new friend Wilberth from Radio Nacional asking me to coordinate an event this Friday.
He asked me to get together
- a calypso band
- a local dance group
- artisans
- folks to talk about history, legends, adn traditions of the zone
- demonstrations of traditional Caribbean food.
- folks who represent tourism projects in Talamanca
- representatives from the government, associations, and schools from the zone.
The phone has nearly grown into my ear, but we’ve organized a fabulous group of folks to represent Talamanca…
The mayor is coming!

Lubá Cook Campbell and Alda Cook Campbell will make pan tradicional “johnny cakes” with coconut while discussing history of pueblo.
Glenda at Mis Sam’s will prepare RonDon!
Don Candido tells more indigenous history.
Mauricio tells us about the Saturday Farmer’s Market

Hershel represents Puerto Viejo youth and surf culture.
The Finca La Isla Botanical Garden is helping out
and at the end we’ll dance the traditional Indigenous dance, the Sorbon.
There’s my first blog entry in a LONG TIME, gotta get back to organizing.
That and we’re working on a partnership with EARTH University to bring down more university groups to study Natural Resources, Ecotourism, Cultural Diversity, Sustainable development / Agriculture, Reforestation / Carbon Sequestration, Renewable energy!
And we’re planning a course called “Survival in the Jungle” for a group of friends from Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast.
Thanks!
